The Tokyo-Hakone College Ekiden Race was held as usual on the 2nd and 3rd of January. This year not so many people watched from the streets, but more people than ever watched it on TV. Soka University was in the lead after the first day. This was a surprise because Soka had never won the race before. On the second day, Soka looked like they were going to win. By the last stage, Komazawa was more than 3 minutes behind, but anchor Ishikawa Takuma didn't give up. He came from behind and passed his rival. Komazawa won the Ekiden Race by almost a minute. What an exciting finish!
