Did you see the new Common Test for University Admissions in the newspaper yesterday? I looked at the English section. It was very different from the old Center Test. I didn't think that the words were as difficult as they used to be, but the problems were more complicated. There was a lot to read, and the kinds of reading were different. There was more real-world English: graphs, messages on a cell phone, and advertisements. Students had to read several different things in order to answer the questions. I think that this is a better test of how much English students really understand.
